Lee Bird currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and President for At Home, a home décor superstore offering a vast assortment of value-driven merchandise in 100 retail locations in 27 states. Lee joined the company in December 2012 and in a short time has transformed the 35-year-old Garden Ridge brand into the more consumer-relevant At Home retail chain.
Before joining the company, Lee held a variety of esteemed leadership positions, most recently serving as Managing Director of The Gores Group, a global private equity firm that specializes in acquiring and partnering with mature and growing businesses. Prior to this, Lee served as President of Nike Affiliates for Nike Inc., Chief Operating Officer of Gap, Chief Financial Officer of Old Navy as well as a variety of senior financial and strategy positions for Gateway, Inc., Allied Signal, In Inc., Ford Motor Company and BayBanks, Inc.
Lee received his MBA from Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College and his bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College. Outside of his professional commitments, Lee is a member of the Ownership Advisory Group for the National Hockey League’s Dallas Stars and also serves as a member of the National Advisory Committee for Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University.
A proud father of eight children, Lee has been married to his wife Linda for nearly 30 years, and in 2006, was awarded the Bay Area Father of the Year by the American Diabetes Association and the Fathers’ Day Council. In his spare time, he enjoys swimming and surfing, and in college was named NCAA All-American in Swimming.
